A Partnership

As you know your child better than anyone, it is really important that we work in partnership together and have an effective communication system so I can ensure that the needs of your child are met to the best of my ability. This continuity of care will ensure that your child will feel safe and secure.

I will obviously meet with you beforehand and discuss in detail your child’s needs. Wherever possible I try to meet parents’ requests for the care of their children according to their values and practices, preferences and attitudes. I will discuss with you your child’s diet and feeding routines, sleep routines, nappy changing or toileting, religion, any other languages spoken, family names (such as siblings, pets etc), special words/pet names, comforters, favourite toys, likes and dislikes etc. I will make a note of what we have discussed and I will then attach this information to the child record forms and use it to provide a caring and quality service. All information that you give to me will be treated as strictly confidential.

Once the placement starts, I will use Baby's Days, where I will record what your child has done during the day, such as what they have eaten, naps, activities, milestones achieved etc, and I would request that you also note down anything that you feel I should know that will help me give your child the care that they need. I will take careful notes of your child’s learning and development progress and I will share this with you, giving you ideas of how to help your child at home. Obviously, I will also be happy to discuss your child and their care with you either in person or over the phone at anytime.

Parent Information Leaflets

I have created Parent Information Leaflets that aim to inform parents about different aspects of my business.

You'll also find copies of forms that I may request parents to complete.

Contracts & Records

I draw up and sign a written contract with parents before the placement starts. The contract is signed by the parent/s and myself and dated. I give copies to the parent/s and any other party involved in the contractual arrangements.

I review the contract with parents every 12 months or when circumstances change. I meet parents’ requests for the care of their children according to their values and practices, preferences and attitudes.  I keep records of these requests with the child record forms which also contain emergency contact numbers, dietary requirements/preferences, food allergies, health requirements, and information about who has legal contact with the child and who has parental responsibility for the child. These records are revisited and updated during regular reviews with parents.

Communication with Parents

I work together with parents to make sure that the care of their child is consistent.  I make time for discussion about a child’s needs by sharing information with parents about daily routines and activities in my setting and in the child’s home. Ways of sharing this information can include inviting parents to add to children’s learning journals, email, telephone, face-to-face meetings, and informal day to day feed-back.

I will discuss any changes in my or the child’s home circumstances which may impact on the child’s development or my ability to care for a child.

I offer regular review meetings with parents to discuss their child’s learning and development share observations and discuss next steps.

  • Review Meetings Written Report- 1 at the end of each term

  • Review Meetings Face to face- Summer Term

  • Newsletter 6x year, at the beginning of each half term, which will include information on topic work for the half term, any events and ideas to extend learning at home

However, I am always happy to discuss your child and their care with you at any time that is convenient to us both, whether in person or over the phone. I would also appreciate it if parents could inform me if there are any changes to contact numbers for yourselves, including work and mobile numbers and those of your emergency contacts.  It is very helpful if you could let me know if your child has had a disturbed sleep, is not feeling well or any other piece of information that may help me to provide them with the best care I can.  A simple text will suffice.

As your child grows and develops issues will crop up that are very important for us to discuss in order that we can work together and your wishes be incorporated into my care routine for your child. These could include weaning, potting training, managing behaviour, starting (pre-) school etc.

I welcome parents’ feedback on my service. Please refer to my Complaints Policy on my procedures for managing negative feedback.

I display my OFSTED registration certificate and the OFSTED poster for parents. This displays OFSTED’s childcare responsibilities and also provides OFSTED contact details.

Here are a selection of Newsletters which display things we've done and what we've learnt.
